Rotary is an international organisation with an astounding 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs spread across 200 countries.
In Great Britain alone there are 55,000 members in a total of 1,850 clubs.
Mansfield Rotary Club is one of these.
Mansfield Rotary Club has about 40 members of whom about one quarter are female.
Most of our members are aged between 40 to 70 years old - with just a few outside this range.
Most are currently, or are retired from, responsibility in some kind of professional, business or other organisational capacity. They enjoy meeting other people and want to make some commitment to Rotary and it's work.
The main commitments are attending as many of our Tuesday evening meetings as possible, taking part and contributing to the work of our teams and assisting in our community, fundraising and other projects. There are also enjoyable social occasion throughout the year. Some of these are for members only and at others guests or any partners may be included.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The subscription cost is currently £175 each year. The meal at our Tuesday normal meetings currently costs £13.
These costs, plus other incidental amounts in buying drinks at meetings, attending special meetings and going to some of the social occasions adds up to about £1000 a year overall.
We hope this has told you a little more about us.
